Brotherhood Mutual Recognized for Business Expansion

FORT WAYNE, IND., April 15, 2010—Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company has received a Swagger Award for business expansion from local economic development officials.

The company was among six recognized by the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance for growing during 2009, a year filled with economic uncertainty.

Brotherhood Mutual was rewarded for launching a $4.4 million project that will add 27,000 square feet of space to its home office. The company broke ground on the three-story addition in November and plans to complete it in July.

This was the first year for the Swagger Awards, which recognize companies that have grown in Allen County. A banquet honored 38 local companies that expanded last year.

Six companies were recognized as Swagger Award winners, each in a separate category.

“The Swagger Awards have been a tremendous success because we accomplished what we set out to do, which was to pay tribute to companies that are working hard and continuing to grow during a time of economic uncertainty," stated Andi Udris, Alliance President. "Many people were brought together for this event because they recognized the importance of honoring the companies that are creating jobs and opportunity for our community."
