Workers' Compensation

Most states require churches and related ministries to have workers' compensation insurance for their employees, including clergy. Under MinistryFirst®, you get state-mandated benefits coverage and employers' liability insurance.

This coverage provides benefits mandated by law in the state where your ministry operations occur or where your employees reside. Policy covers employees only, and the benefits are provided only in relation to a work-related injury or disease as specified in the state law. The premium is based on your payroll estimates for different classes of employees.

The policy also includes employer's liablity insurance that protects you up to the coverage limit in the event you are sued in civil court as the result of an injury to your employee arising out of the employee's job-related injury or illness.


Note: Many state workers' compensation statutes contain punitive provisions directed toward employers who fail to purchase this coverage to protect employees.
