Skateboarding, paintball, a ropes course, horseback riding, and rodeo: What do all of these have in common? Besides engaging young campers in fun summer activities, safety also is important at River Valley Ranch summer camp.
Life.Church never set out to be a global ministry. Its leadership couldn’t have known when they started meeting in a rented dance studio that one day they would have 14 campuses in five states, and a campus on the Internet. Today, through satellite broadcasts that enable 14 locations to be connected as one, Life.Church is a multi-site church that transcends metropolitan and even global regions.
“When Pastor Craig started Life.Church, he had no idea what God would do with it,” says Cathi Linch, central group leader of financial operations at Life.Church. “This is purely God’s deal. We just focus on reaching people for Christ, and we let God do the rest.”
Bringing church to the Internet happened in April 2006, when the Life.Church Internet Campus was launched. This revolutionary campus provides live church online for people around the world, providing the ability to engage in genuine community, unique volunteer opportunities, online LifeGroups, and even mission opportunities on the internet.
“I don’t believe that God will call every church to move in the direction of the internet,” says Linch. “But, there are people who can only be reached that way. It’s a huge tool. God will use the internet to connect churches with people who could not otherwise be reached.”
“Brotherhood Mutual has always been very flexible in helping us address our unique insurance needs, without forcing us to fit into a cookie cutter insurance policy,” says Linch. “The company has a willingness to listen to what we’re doing. Even if it’s outside the mold, they’ll help address our needs.”
“With a ministry like Life.Church, we interact almost daily, sometimes several times a day,” says Brotherhood Mutual insurance agent, Monte Valentine, of his customer. “They’re really sharp people, and they know what questions to ask. They appreciate Brotherhood Mutual’s flexibility and support. It’s really a team effort.”
What does the future look like for Life.Church?
“We have a huge opportunity to impact the world globally,” says Linch. “The highest attendance at our weekly online experiences is from India—not the U.S. We believe our future includes reaching even more people globally by providing online experiences in multiple languages, as well as engaging people of all languages in Scripture via mobile Bible-reading applications and online at YouVersion.com.”
