Grant Requirements

We want you to be successful in completing your application. Please read the requirements outlined below and prayerfully evaluate your initiative in comparison before beginning the process. 

Program standards

The Kingdom Advancing Grant, offered through the Brotherhood Mutual FoundationSM, supports church teams who, in their God-ordained calling, transform their community in creative and collaborative ways.

The grant is designed for a church program or initiative that demonstrates all of the following:

  • Directly overseen by the church.
  • Intended to help build the Kingdom by introducing people to Jesus or strengthening their relationship with Jesus.
  • Involves a unique idea that's innovative, creative, and new and that other churches are not already doing.
  • Sustainable and can be replicated by other Christian churches.

The Brotherhood Mutual Foundation awards individual grants in amounts of $15,000–$100,000 annually. The number of grants awarded each year will vary, based on the scope and financial need of the projects. In addition, each grant recipient will be paired with an experienced ministry leader who can provide guidance and assistance.

Important Dates for 2024

We anticipate receiving hundreds of applications and desire to give each application thorough consideration. Please refer to the timeline below to help you better understand the decision-making process.

January 8, 2024 Application process opens at 12:01 a.m. EST
March 27, 2024 Applications due by 11:59 p.m. EST
July 31, 2024 Grant recipients confirmed. All applicants will be notified whether they received a grant or not.

Eligibility standards

In order for an initiative or program to be considered for a Kingdom Advancing Grant, it must be directly overseen by a Christian church that meets each of the following requirements:

  • A tax-exempt charitable organization as described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
  • In good standing with the IRS; If the 501(c)(3) tax exemption was previously revoked by the IRS, it must have been reinstated for at least one full year prior to applying for the Kingdom Advancing Grant
  • Based in the United States

Necessary documents

You must include the following documents with your application, if available:

  • Church’s constitution or bylaws
  • Church’s Purpose Statement, Statement of Faith, or Statement of Belief

NOTE: During the application review process, the Granting Council may ask you to provide additional information about your initiative or supportive documentation, including financial records and audit records for the prior three years.

Notification

By July 31, 2024, we will make final decisions on applications and notify all applicants via email and/or letter to the address given to us in the application. Carefully check all contact information for accuracy when completing the application.

We understand the importance of confidentiality regarding grant applications. We want to help you understand how we gather, use, share, and protect the information you give us in relation to the submission and evaluation of your application and the distribution and follow-up activities that will occur for any grants you might receive from us.

Information we gather. We collect personal and potentially confidential information about you and your ministry on applications or other forms you or others submit to us, as well as information about the interactions you have with us.

How we use and share your information. The information we receive about you and your ministry will only be accessible to our staff and representatives who have a responsibility to process and evaluate your application, communicate with you about our decisions regarding your grant application, and process any grant distributions and related follow-up activities. We will also share your information with outside entities in order to comply with any legal or regulatory requirements. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal and state regulations to guard your personal information. We assume no legal obligation to maintain strict confidentiality of the information you provide to us.

Because this grant program is designed in part to encourage and inspire other ministries to follow your lead in implementing effective ministry programs, if your ministry is selected to receive a grant we may publicly announce the award of a grant to your ministry and otherwise publish details about your ministry’s initiative when and how we choose to do so.
