Brotherhood Mutual Makes $500,000 Donation to Full Strength Network to Support Pastor Wellbeing

FORT WAYNE, IN: Since its launch fall of 2017, the staff of Full Strength Network has been busy growing the national non-profit to meet the needs of pastors and their families. Full Strength Network, based in Fort Wayne, IN, connects pastors across the U.S. with resources to maintain balance in their lives and prevent burnout.

An infusion of $500,000 from the Brotherhood Mutual Foundation, Inc., will help the Full Strength Network staff reach out to denominations, churches, and pastors to educate them about pastor wellbeing and to connect them with focused resources, services, and techniques to keep them thriving in ministry.

“One-third of our nation’s pastors report high to severe levels of burnout due to the heavy pressures of ministry leadership,” said Hugh White, executive director, Full Strength Network. “Long work hours with little work/life balance play a role, especially in a time of disruption like this year. Burnout can lead to depression and depression leads to dropping out of ministry. Recovery from burnout can take one to two years and during that time a pastor may not be leading their church and congregation at full strength.”

The team at Full Strength Network focuses on promoting wellbeing in six areas to provide daily balance: spiritual, emotional, relational, physical, intellectual, and financial. “Resources for these areas range from things pastors can do self-help style, such as blog posts, articles, eBooks, assessments, and our free MinistryPulse daily wellbeing app, to connecting them with professional help through our nationwide network of more than 400 approved counselors, coaches, and mentors,” said White.

This year’s $500,000 donation is not the first that Brotherhood Mutual has made to Full Strength Network. The ministry-focused national property and casualty insurance company through its foundation provided the seed money for the start-up in 2017 and has given a gift annually.

“Our company’s core value centers on helping ministries thrive, so when it comes to dedicating resources and making a donation like this, we want to make sure we do so in a way that makes the most impact,” said Mark Robison, Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company chairman and president. “Supporting the overall health and wellbeing of pastors is something we can take action on in a meaningful way.”

Brotherhood Mutual also holds a voluntary annual employee giving campaign with proceeds benefiting the general fund for Full Strength Network, was a sponsor of Mad Ants Faith and Family Night - benefiting Full Strength Network, and recently hosted a free Resilient Pastor webinar featuring Full Strength Network counselors on the panel.

“We’re especially blessed that companies like Brotherhood Mutual share in our passion for keeping pastors healthy and flourishing as ministry leaders. Their generous support not only helps us operationally, it also provides financial aid for pastors toward marriage intensives, counseling sessions, personality assessments, our new PastorWell service, and other programs,” said White.
