Brotherhood Mutual Launches Brotherhood Works to Support Ministry Staff and Volunteers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 9, 2025

FORT WAYNE, IN: Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company, a leading provider of property and casualty insurance for Christian ministries, has launched a new brand – Brotherhood Works™ – to unify and expand the company’s suite of existing products and services designed to support ministry staff and volunteers. Brotherhood Works offers a comprehensive range of solutions, including payroll and HR, human capital management (HCM), time & attendance, employee benefits, workers’ compensation, accident insurance, critical illness coverage, mission travel insurance, and background checks.

Because many ministries operate without dedicated HR departments, it’s often up to individuals to manage complex administrative tasks. This gap prompted many ministry leaders to ask Brotherhood Mutual® to help them find tools and resources for managing many tasks that are typically done by someone in HR.

“Brotherhood Mutual has more than a century of experience in serving Christian ministries. As we’ve grown to serve more than 67,000 churches, schools, colleges, camps, and mission organizations with insurance designed for the challenges and opportunities ministries face, we knew we were equipped to help them protect their property, their people, and their programs,” said Mark Robison, chairman and president, Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company.

“The Brotherhood Works brand sets us up for the future to keep matching the greatest needs of ministries when it comes to caring for their people - their employees and their families,” said Robison.

Through Brotherhood Works, ministries have access to tools and services not typically available exclusively for Christian organizations. When ministries don’t have access to the tools that help them care for their people, they risk compliance and employment issues. By providing critical services like payroll and employee benefits, ministries can attract and retain talented people to work in ministry and serve their communities.

“Organizing our people care solutions within Brotherhood Works means we can offer products and services designed to help Christian leaders focus on their calling of sharing the gospel truth of Jesus,” said Abel Travis, senior vice president affiliate operations, Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company.

Brotherhood Mutual is not new to developing services outside the insurance space. For example, they launched subsidiary MinistryWorks, LLC, a payroll services and HR solutions company, in 2012, which now serves 7000+ ministry customers. Additionally, Brotherhood Mutual has formed strategic alliances with other ministry-focused organizations for employee benefits and background screenings. These will now be offered under the Brotherhood Works brand.

“The goal of Brotherhood Works is to serve ministry leaders and employees, so they can serve from a place of fullness. This is very important to not only our company leadership, but to our employees who consider it a calling to work with these ministries and their people,” said Gabe Brown, vice president sales and operations, Brotherhood Works.
