Annual Review and Onboarding

Our school will review this policy and its procedures at least once each year. The school will consult with an attorney in identifying policies and procedures that require modification. When reviewing this policy and its procedures, the school and legal counsel will examine potential conflicts between this policy and the by-laws or other governing documents of the school.

Upon completion of this review, the school will conduct annual training for all staff members, coaches, and regular volunteers to familiarize them with the policy. Attendance at the annual training is mandatory for paid staff members and regular volunteers, regardless of whether the training is conducted in person or online, and will be documented. Selected or hired applicants will receive a copy of the policy and sign an acknowledgment form confirming that they have read and understood the policy. A staff member in charge of onboarding will provide a copy of the policy and will document the signed acknowledgment.

Staff members previously screened by the school will submit an annual renewal form updating the information in their personal record.

If the information obtained through a renewal application form indicates that a staff member or volunteer may be unsuitable to work or serve at the school, they will be immediately relieved of their position on a temporary basis. [Principal] and [Dean of Students] should discuss the facts and circumstances surrounding the information obtained on the renewal application with the staff member or volunteer who is on temporary leave. Additional screening tools, such as criminal background checks and contacting a minimum of two references, may be required to determine whether an employee or volunteer poses a threat to students or other campus participants. The information obtained on the renewal application form, in conjunction with other screening procedures, should be utilized together in determining whether a staff member or volunteer poses a risk to students and campus participants. Staff members or volunteers who may pose a threat to students and campus participants will be permanently removed from their current position and will not be considered for future positions within the school.
