Holidays

This policy advises your employees of the holidays on which your organization will be closed. This policy may be modified to fit the needs of your organization. 


SAMPLE POLICY:
HOLIDAYS

(Name of organization) typically observes eight paid holidays per year. The amount and dates of recognized holidays are announced annually and are at the business administrator’s discretion. A person must be employed on the day before and the day after the holiday to be eligible for holiday pay. If an employee intends to terminate employment and uses vacation or sick time during his or her final workweek, holiday pay will only be paid if the employee was physically present and working on both the day preceding and the day following the holiday. Additionally, holidays are not paid during an employee’s unpaid leave of absence.

Guidelines

This organization typically recognizes the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. If a recognized holiday falls on a weekend, (name of organization) will observe either the preceding Friday or the following Monday as a holiday.
