Protective Orders

Maintaining a safe work environment for employees is a top priority. Unfortunately, domestic violence can spill into the workplace, creating an unsafe situation. For example, someone outside the organization who has been threatening an employee may try to contact that person at work, endangering multiple people.

People who are being threatened can ask a court to issue a protective or restraining order against the offender. Such an order requires the offender to stop doing certain things or to stay a certain distance away from the targeted person. When an employee applies for a restraining order, it is important for the employee to inform the organization right away. This allows the organization to do its part to protect employees and comply with the order’s requirements.
